Pop-Culture Poetry is a panel-reading of poems and spoken word pieces inspired by sci-fi, fantasy, anime and comics by readers from the Utica Poets Society. Poetry needn’t only be about flowers and trees, it can be about alien worlds and alternate histories, swords and sorcery and heroes and anything you like! Local voices bride the gap between pop-culture and more classical literary forms!

The Utica Poets Society is an open writers’ group and weekly poetry-and-spoken-word open mic series, nearly every Thursday 7:30PM, nearly always at the Tramontane Café, excepting holidays and occasional readings at other Mohawk Valley venues. From the most casual to the most dedicated readers, all are welcome to read their own work, others’ work or just listen in!
